Even More
In addition, St. Otto’s Care Center has a comprehensive Adult Day Care program, which was the first of its kind in Minnesota  when it opened in 1969.

Elder Heights, an eight-person community located on the fourth floor of St. Otto’s Care Center, provides still another option for the residential care of the elderly.

St. Otto’s Care Center accepts Medical Assistance, Medicare, Veteran’s Administration and many private insurances. Conscientious and courteous business office staff will help families determine the coverage.

St. Otto’s Care Center joins St. Gabriel’s Hospital, a 55-bed community hospital; St. Camillus Place, a 14-bed home for people with developmental disabilities; and Alverna Apartments, a 60-unit housing complex; to form one of the most comprehensive continuums of health care in Greater Minnesota.

Long Term Stays
For some residents, St. Otto’s Care Center is home, a place where they can receive the best in medical care and personal attention. This commitment to quality revolves around a primary resident care model and an integrated care team that ensures that all aspects of a person’s needs are being met.

Primary nursing means the same nurses work with  the same residents on virtually every shift thereby building strong relationships not only with the residents themselves but with their family members as well.

The care team brings nursing, activities, dietary,  rehab, social services and spiritual care personnel into contact with residents and their families in care conferences. Together with physicians, the care team develops individually designed care plans which take a holistic approach to caring for the physical, emotional, psychological, medical and spiritual needs of the resident.

Short Term Stays
For other residents, St. Otto’s Care Center is an intermediate stop between the hospital and their home, where they can prepare themselves to continue their independent lifestyles.

To assist with this goal are physical, occupational and speech therapists who use a variety of rehabilitative therapies to ensure a complete recovery from surgery, illness or injury. Nursing staff and the entire care team work toward the same objectives as they follow the integrated care plan to ensure that the resident possesses the strength and flexibility to live independently.

A program specifically designed for post-surgery orthopedic patients and other successes in restoring individual’s health, has established St. Otto’s Care Center as a center of excellence in rehabilitative services.
