The Builder

An old man traveling along a highway
Came at the evening cold and gray
To a canyon vast and deep and wide,
Through which was flowing a torrential tide.

The old man crossed at twilight dim,
The sullen stream held no fear for him.
But he turned when safe on the other side,
To build a bridge to span the tide.

“Old Man,” said a fellow pilgrim near,
“You’re wasting your time building here,
Your journey will end with the closing day,
You’ve crossed the canyon deep and wide.
Why build this bridge at evening tide?”

“Good friend, on the trail I have traveled,” he said,
“There followed after me today, a young family
who must still pass this way.
This stream which held no fear for me,
For them and their children may a pitfall be.
They, too, must cross in the twilight dim,
Good Friend, I am building this bridge for them.”

Building for Health & Community
Investing in Tomorrow's Health Care Today!
What Will This Building Project Mean to You?
  • In an emergency, we will have the resources to provide life-saving care --right here at home.
  • A successful project and campaign enhances our ability to recruit and retain the best physicians and other health care professionals.
  • A strong, financially stable hospital helps the local economic environment by being an asset to business recruitment and serving as a testament to the overall economic climate in the community.
  •  This building project is critical to sustain and improve local health care access to services and helps to maintain community confidence and perceptions of the local health care system.
St. Gabriel’s Hospital “A Community Asset”
WHEN SECONDS COUNT, St. Gabriel’s Hospital provides you with prompt care from local physicians and professionals who live in your community. And there is another benefit – the long-term economic health of our community. Besides directly employing many local residents, St. Gabriel’s Hospital indirectly attracts other businesses to our area. When corporations are looking for a new community, quality health care is a significant factor in their decision.

Count on St. Gabriel’s Hospital
SINCE 1892, St. Gabriel’s Hospital has supplied area residents with access to a full range of quality health care services. Now we are counting on you to help us meet the new health care challenges of the new century. Your support will help raise $1,250,000 to $2,000,000 toward a $22 million building project.

Our goal is to ensure high quality medical care for the residents of our communities and to enhance retention and recruitment of physicians and other health care professionals well into the 21st century.

The Specific Benefits of this Plan are:

Construction of a new approximately 67,000 square-foot inpatient and outpatient facility adjacent to the current St. Gabriel’s Hospital.
  • New areas for diagnostics including imaging -- x-ray, CT scanning, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine -- and lab services which are easily accessible for patients.
  • A contemporary rehab services department conveniently located on the first floor of the new facility and housing such services as physical, occupational and speech therapy as well as cardiac rehab.
  • An expanded same day surgery department with the latest amenities.
  • A new, “weather-friendly” main entrance with a canopy and a turnaround to facilitate patient “drop-offs” and patient service.
  • A state-of-the-art facility capable of serving the health care needs of the people of Morrison County well into the 21st century.

We Invite Your Suppport
St. Gabriel’s Hospital serves the people of central Minnesota, not only as a quality health care facility, but also as a major economic force. This hospital has been here for us and our families, friends, and neighbors since 1892. We, the Campaign Executive Committee, as well as others, feel an obligation to help ensure that St. Gabriel’s Hospital is here and available for us and others in the future.

You are invited to join other key community leaders in making a commitment to this very important campaign. You could show leadership by making an investment before others are asked.

The scope of this program and its importance causes us to seek and make extraordinary investments. Those of us who invest first, and at significant levels, are sending a statement to others that we see the needs of our area being served by St. Gabriel’s Hospital. Our financial commitments can raise the sights of others and help set the high standards this campaign  requires.

We are asking you to give consideration to the degree of influence you can assert in this program through your personal pledge. We hope you will join us in making a significant investment and leading the way in this campaign.

We ask you to review this information and support “Building for Health & Community” for the good of all who will benefit now and in the future.
